Canadien P.K. Subban Sous Contrat

The defender PK Subban has just signed with the Canadiens for a period of three years.

Discovered by many in the last World Junior Hockey Championships, Subban was selected in second round by the Canadiens, 43rd in total in 2007.


In 2008-09, Subban was ranked second among the defenders of the League of Ontario with 76 points (14 goals, 62 assists) in addition to posting the fifth best differential in the league (47) . He led the Bulls to the championship of the Eastern Conference (98 points) and finished second to obtain the Max Kaminsky Trophy awarded to the champion of the Ontario circuit (won by Ryan Ellis of the Windsor Spitfires) . The defender is 6 feet and 202 pounds. He was captain of the Eastern Conference to its second consecutive All-Star game in the OHL.

Subban, which celebrates its 20th anniversary today, finished in fifth place pointers advocates of the OHL playoffs in 2009 with a harvest of 15 points in 17 games (3 goals, 12 assists). The Bulls lost in the final conference in the hands of the Brampton Battalion.

Double gold medalist

Originally from Toronto, Subban won last January a second consecutive gold medal with training at the Canadian World Hockey Championships junior tournament in Ottawa. The player of 19 years to obtain the best differential among all players in the competition with a record of over 12 and finished tied for first place among the defenders with nine points in six games (3 goals, 6 assists).

From 2005 to 2009, Subban has collected 191 points (42 goals, 149 assists), received 353 penalty minutes and presented a differential of plus 79 in 234 regular season games with the Belleville Bulls in the OHL. He also introduced a crop of 51 points (16 goals, 35 assists), 78 penalty minutes and a differential of plus 24 in 56 playoff games with Belleville.

The Canadiens also announced the contract of defender Andre Benoit for the 2009-2010 season today.
